​About The Project:

Our client has just purchased this Mid Century Modern home, built in 1951 from the original owner. It is close to 75 years old now and in its original state. They would like to fully renovate the kitchen living area before moving into the house. The kitchen was built separate from the living and dining area and is fully enclosed. Our client would like to knock down the walls surrounding the kitchen to open the space for better entertaining. A beautiful, stone walk-out patio is also located just off of this living room.

 

The Vision:

Our client would like the overall design of the space to feel Mid Century Modern but still warm and rustic.  They like some traditional

Mid Century Modern details such as teak cabinetry with battens. They also like mixing warm teak with white marble countertops and white cabinetry. They love brass sputnik chandeliers and would like to put one in the foyer entryway. They would like to paint the wood beams and thin window molding black whilst keeping the walls a warm white for a contemporary feel. The floor under the carpet is raw concrete slab. They would like to install radiant heat and oversized concrete tiles on top of the existing slab, and eliminate all of the base board heating on this level.  They would like to have the tv / living room on the lower level.
